A Spiced Hits Shelves This Weekend

Liberty Pole Spirits of Washington, PA doesn’t do too many special releases but they do have one scheduled for Saturday, November 16th

The distillery’s Spice Flavored Whiskey is going on sale on site and at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Libations the Aged Liberty Pole Rye has all-spice, cinnamon, orange peel and brown sugar blended in for a holiday treat.

This isn’t the only news out of Liberty Pole, earlier this month, the three-and-a-half year old distillery prepped its first straight (two-year aged) whiskey for bottling. Till now, the older whiskey had been blended with newer runs before bottling.

UPROOTED: Art in the Age Ceasing ROOT, SNAP, SAGE and RHUBARB Production

Ch-ch-changes coming to Art in the Age. The liquers from Quaker City Mercantile’s Stephen Grasse will cease being produced. The spirits had been being contract produced by a Los Angeles distillery.

Art in the Age, is now focusing on new small-batch spirits it will make with its connection to Grasse’s New Hampshire-based Tamworth Distillery and Philadelphia’s New Liberty Distilling.  In a note posted to social media and on its webpage, Art in the Age laid out its future in products like Art in the Age Garden Infusions line of spirits.

Pennsylvania Mops Up at American Craft Spirits Association Awards

Ten different Pennsylvania distilleries combined for 35 medals at the American Craft Spirits Association’s awards ceremony for 2017. Pittsburgh’s Wigle Whiskey led the way with a ridiculous 16 awards (15 bronze and one silver). Wigle alone won more medals than all but six other states.

With Wigle’s performance, Pennsylvania won 12 more awards than the next closest state, New York with 23.

Manatawny Still Works Launches Latest in Small Batch Whiskey Series

This Saturday, Pottstown, PA’s Manatawny Still Works is releasing the latest in its Small Batch Whiskey Series. The series allows the distillery to play around with its mash bills, time aging and in this case, finishing the whiskey in port barrels from California’s Gandona Estate Winery.

This is the 13th release in the series and will only be available at the distillery and at select accounts that regularly carry Manatawny Still Works.

Manatawny Still Works Gets Flagship Whiskey into PA Liquor Stores

Manatawny Still Works released its flagship aged Keystone Whiskey back in May of 2016 and now the Pottstown, PA based distillery is happy that the spirit is being carried in the state’s Fine Wine & Good Spirits shops.

A current search of the state’s system finds Keystone Whiskey in 27 stores, most located in and around Philadelphia. Expect more stores to get shipments in the coming weeks.

Wigle’s Afterglow Ginger Whiskey Returns

On Friday, February 17th, Wigle Whiskey is bringing back its AFTERGLOW seasonal ginger whiskey. The whiskey was developed in collaboration with Chatham University’s Food Studies Program and is made with baby ginger grown and Chatham’s Eden Hall Farm.

The ginger is lightly roasted and then soaked in four-grain whiskey for 5 days. After the steeping, Wigle mixes in some organic brown sugar and bottles it at 82-proof.

Boardroom Spirits Prepares To Release Ginger Vodka

Boardroom Spirits out of Lansdale, PA is teasing out a new product release via Instagram. The graphic includes a fresh piece of ginger and the date of Friday, February 3rd.

Reliable sources tell Pennsy Local that Boardroom is preparing to release a flavored vodka made with fresh ginger. The potent potable will certainly make a Moscow Mule pop.

More on the New Liberty and Quaker City Mercantile Arrangement

Philly.com has more on the collaboration between New Liberty Distilling and Quaker City Mercantile. The coupling will mean new products every 30 to 60 days and big changes to Quaker City’s Art in the Age Store in the Old City section of Philadelphia.

The retail store will be remade into a liquor-heavy tasting room and destination shop for home bars. Look for the tasting room changes to roll out in March or April.

Philadelphia Distilling Sets Opening and First Tour Dates for New Distillery

Philadelphia Distilling has been moving towards its opening date of its Fishtown distillery for a long while now. But the maker of Bluecoat Gin has announced that its going to open on Sunday, February 19th with an official ribbon cutting will happen on Monday, February 20th, Presidents’ Day.

Tours of the the distillery, which is the latest attraction of the Fillmore entertainment complex are set to begin on Thursday, February 23rd.
