Yesterday we let slip that we’re a bit obsessed with cocktails in cans. Portable, easily iced, enjoyed on the go, what’s not to like? Not much unless you’re the actual distiller who has to figure out carbonation, canning, procuring and storing cans, producing labels and a public that isn’t familiar with the format, not to mention competing directly with the beast that is hard seltzer. But despite all of that, and yes the pesky pandemic, we are seeing more and more Pennsylvania distillers putting cocktails in cans.

Landsdale’s Boardroom Spirits is selling three types of vodka and sodas showcasing the distillery’s vodkas made with no artificial flavors. Choose from the Cranberry Lime, Pineapple Ginger or Grapefruit Citrus.

County Seat Spirits
County Seat Spirits is offering its MiXO branded canned cocktails to go from its Allentown and Easton locations. Choose between the Sparkling Lavender Gin Lemonade or the Spicy Strawberry Vodka cocktail.

Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville Distilling has embraced the can game. The gin-first distillery stuck its toe into the canned cocktail world by offering Gin Gimlets by the individual can or 4-pack. The gimlet features Lawrenceville’s GinZer Gin and their own lime cordial, made primarily from lime zest. co-founder and distiller, Joe DeGroot tells City Paper Pittsburgh that there will be more canned cocktails to come. And DeGroot tells the truth. He’s released Hard Day Coffee, a limited release nitro pour hard coffee, made with vanilla, vodka, rum and Allegheny Coffee’s cold brew blend.

Maggie’s Farm Rum Distillery
Canned cocktails go on sale Thursday, August 20th at the distillery in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. Classic Maggie’s Farm rum cocktails including Painkillers, Zombies, Mai Tais, Mojitos and their signature Smooth Sailing cocktail (Maggie’s Farm white rum, house-made ginger beer, and lime cordial) are available for pickup. These cocktails all contain fresh juice, so drink them fresh.

Triple Sun Spirits
With locations in Emmaus and Newtown, Triple Sun is offering six different cocktails in cans. Take home a four-pack of a Ginger Mule, Watermelon Seltzer, Cranberry Lime Seltzer, Blueberry Lemonade Seltzer, Black Cherry Seltzer or Moonshine Cherry Lemonade.
