A Pennsylvania Martini Thanks to Collaborative Vermouth

Philadelphia Distilling and Stone and Key Cellars (Montgomeryville, PA) have collaborated to release Revolutionary Vermouth. And right now you can get the vermouth, plus everything else you need to make a Pennsylvania Martini right from Philadelphia Distilling.

The Fishtown distillery is selling Martini Kits that include three one-liter bottles of Bluecoat Gin, a bottle of Revolutionary Vermouth and three oranges for $99 (normally $121). Basically, the vermouth is free. Get the pack direct from the distillery or shipped within the state of Pennsylvania.

The vermouth is also available direct from Stone and Key (but not Philadelphia Distilling, as distilleries can’t sell wine products to go – and that’s what vermouth is).

Distilleries Offering Local Delivery

Upper Darby Police inspect about $72,000 in liquor seized during a raid. 1930

In these crazy times Pennsylvania distilleries are often reinventing their business models. One of the consumer friendly enhancements some distilleries have made is the addition of local delivery. Typically it means small or no minimums, cheaper delivery fees than shipping and sometimes arrival of the spirits to your front door on the same day. In accordance to Pennsylvania law, all deliveries must be received by someone 21 or older with valid ID. We’ve come a long way from the days of bootleggers and rum runners.

Just remember to tip well.

Philadelphia Distilling Ramping Up Whiskey Production

Philadelphia Distilling is known for its Bluecoat Gin but it has been dabbling in whiskey production with its occasional Tough Broad Whiskey made in collaboration with Yards Brewing Co.

But in a recent newsletter, the Philadelphia distiller has made note that the first quarter of 2020 is going to be about whiskey production. Philadelphia Distilling will be using 100% local grains for their malt and rye whiskeys.

Be patient though, the whiskey won’t be ready till 2025.
