Port Gin Returns with New Look at Manatawny

Manatawny Still Works - Port Barrel Finished Gin

Pottstown’s Manatawny Still Works is bringing back its pink-hued Port Finished Gin in time for Valentine’s Day. Previously released as “Zimbro” — the Portuguese word for juniper, the spirit recently was named one of Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 Spirits of 2020.

The gin will be available for online pre-order starting on Friday, February 5th for $40 per 750 ml bottle. Pickup and delivery will be available from Manatawny’s Philadelphia and Pottstown locations beginning on Friday, February, 12th.

The gin is finished with Gandona Estate port barrels which bring out the juniper and add sweetness, mild oak and vanilla. Pennsy Local was able to get a sip this week and felt there was definitely more port tasted in this second release.

Earlier in the pandemic, Zimbro was the backbone of some exciting cocktails at Pennsy Local HQ, including in a very tasty number made with Wigle’s Saffron Amaro and orange.

County Seat Adds Barrel-Aged Gin to Lineup

This Friday, October 9th at 5 pm, County Seat Spirits in Easton will be releasing a new spirit. They’re taking their Lock Keeper Gin and aging it in a charred white oak barrel.

Barrel-finished gins are a great way to extend gin season. Often thought of light and crisp, the time in the barrels adds smoky depth to gin and really adds something to cocktails like the negroni.

County Seat’s take on barrel-finished gins is $37 per 750 ml bottle and can be picked up in Easton. Lock Keeper Barrel Finished Gin will also be made available to be shipped or delivered locally.

Lancaster Distilleries Adds Two New Products

Lancaster Distilleries Product Line

Lancaster Distilleries, a micro-distillery located in the Zoetropolis Cinema is grandly adding two new products to its lineup on Saturday, March 14th at 12 pm. The downtown Lancaster distillery is adding a barrel-rested gin and a spiced rum to its offerings.

The launch day will feature free tastings, tours as well as brunch specials infused with Lancaster Distilleries spirits from 12 pm to 3 pm.

If you cannot wait, the aged gin is available now.
